Thinned — Miniature Painting Journal
Last updated: 30 June 2026
By downloading, installing, or using Thinned (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
These Terms are a legal agreement between you and Yggdrasil Ventures Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Thinned. If you are between 13 and 18, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the App.
Thinned is a mobile application for documenting miniature painting progress, managing paint inventories, saving painting recipes, and tracking painting sessions. The App operates on a local-first architecture — your data is stored on your device by default and no account is required for core functionality.
Thinned is available in the following tiers:
Free tier limits may change over time. We will provide reasonable notice before reducing limits that would affect existing users' data.
Some features (such as recipe sharing) require you to create an account. When you create an account, you agree to:
You may create only one account per person. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
You own your content. All projects, painting sessions, recipes, photos, notes, and other content you create in Thinned (“User Content”) remains your intellectual property. We do not claim ownership of your User Content.
By using Thinned, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and transmit your User Content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the App's features (such as recipe sharing). This licence ends when you delete your content or your account.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you add to Thinned, including photos and paint brand names.
Thinned lets you publish a recipe by generating a 6-character share code. When you do this, the recipe content (its steps, paints, notes and any attached images) becomes viewable by anyone who has that share code. Sharing is entirely optional and off by default — a recipe stays private to your account unless you choose to share it. You can stop sharing a recipe at any time by deleting it in the App.
By sharing a recipe, you grant other Thinned users a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to view and save a copy of that recipe for their personal use within the App. Recipes that other users have saved will persist in their local data even if you later delete the original recipe or your account — you cannot recall copies that others have already saved.
Shared recipes are user-generated content, and you are responsible for what you publish. By sharing content that other people can see, you agree that it will not:
We operate a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behaviour in shared content.
When you open a shared recipe in the App, you can flag it using the “Report this recipe” option if you believe it breaches these Terms. You can also report shared content, or another user, by emailing support@thinned.app. We aim to review reports and act on them — including removing the content where appropriate — promptly, and ordinarily within 24 hours of a report.
We may remove or disable access to any shared content, and suspend or terminate the account of any user, that we reasonably believe breaches these standards, with or without prior notice. Removing a shared recipe does not delete copies that other users have already saved to their own devices.
You agree not to:
The Pro upgrade is a one-time purchase at the price displayed in the App (currently £8.99). Once purchased, Pro features are unlocked for the lifetime of the Thinned service — meaning for as long as Thinned remains available and functional on your device. There is no recurring charge and no expiry date while the service continues to operate.
“Lifetime” does not mean perpetual or unlimited in duration. If we discontinue the Thinned service (see Section 8), your Pro unlock remains active on any existing installation of the App but we are not obligated to maintain, update, or redistribute the App indefinitely.
All payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google in accordance with their respective refund policies:
If you reinstall the App or switch devices, you can restore previous purchases at no additional cost through the App's settings.
We aim to keep Thinned available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may:
Because Thinned is local-first, your core experience is not dependent on our servers. Even if our online services are unavailable, you can continue using the App offline with your local data.
We reserve the right to discontinue the Thinned service entirely (for example, by removing the App from app stores and ceasing development). If we do so, we will:
After discontinuation:
The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, secure, or available at all times, or that any defects will be corrected.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or right that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
By you: You may stop using Thinned at any time. You can delete your account and all associated data from within the App (Settings > Delete Account), or via our account deletion page, as described in our Privacy Policy.
By us: We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms, with notice where reasonably practicable. In cases of serious or repeated violations, we may terminate immediately.
Effect of termination: Upon termination, your right to use the App's online features ceases. Local data on your device remains yours. If your account is terminated, server-side data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
The Thinned app, including its design, code, branding, and documentation (excluding User Content), is owned by Yggdrasil Ventures Limited and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
Paint brand names, product names, and trademarks referenced in the App's paint database belong to their respective owners. Thinned is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any paint manufacturer.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. This means you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence if you are a consumer.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:
Your continued use of Thinned after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the App and delete your account.
